Prices: EIA, residential, January–August 2026 vs. 2025. Extra cost: the state’s 2024 average household use times the price increase; actual bills vary. Queue: Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and GridTracker (CC BY 4.0), end of 2025. Projects are counted where they would be built, their power may serve other states, and most projects in the queue never get built. Homes’ worth is a year’s electricity, not around-the-clock supply.
Federal officials moved in 2025 to revoke the approved construction plan for a $6 billion offshore wind project off Ocean City, and a Pennsylvania-Maryland power line approved in 2016 is still unbuilt.
